Why Is Physical Activity Important? – Answered in a sentence

Hello everyone. Hoping you’re having a great day! There are millions and billions of articles and research papers explaining why actually some sort of physical activity is important in our day-to-day lives. But today I will tell you one simple reason explaining why it is important and the importance of physical exercise in our life.

Why is physical activity important for us?

Simple answer – to keep our blood flowing to each and every part of our body. And how to do it? Simple answer – remain active.

Do you know, our human body is built in such a way to keep us moving. Our body is not designed to sit comfortably on a chair or lay for hours on our cozy sofas. It is designed to move, and it works best when it’s active.

It’s pretty obvious to say that our lifestyle nowadays has made us to sit for prolonged hours at our workplace or in front of our TVs or smartphones binge-watching Netflix series or scrolling through Instagram feeds.

However, there isn’t any problem watching our favourite shows, but we tend to forget to keep our body and muscles moving. Actually, it’s difficult to accept the fact that it’s slowly making us lazy.

We should force ourselves to be Physically Active

So, our body needs to be physically active. What exactly does it mean? Should I hit the gym? Should I work out daily? Should I start running every morning? This seems difficult for me… I’ll rather watch a new series that is trending this week…

Being active, or to be specific “physically active”, doesn’t mean you should buy a new gym membership. It simply means that we should move our complete body from one place to another.

A simple scientific information here – our blood carries oxygen. And our heart is an essential organ that pumps blood and is responsible for transferring blood (and thus oxygen) to each and every part of our body. Remaining active allows our heart to work at its best, which in turn will allow the blood to flow to all the essential parts of our body. Thus, along with a proper and healthy diet, and being physically active, our heart remains fit. This in-turn will make our lungs healthy. As it’s said, Everything is connected, and so is our internal system too. Overall, we maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It’s really simple as it sounds. But is it that simple?

It’s actually in our small habits. Even a small walk is considered to be a good physical activity.

For example, while in the office, try taking small breaks in between hours and walk for a minute or so.

Want to talk to your manager or your HR, don’t talk via phone or email software. If possible, get off your chair and walk towards his/her cabin.

While watching your favourite web series at home, try building a habit of walking for atlease a minute after every episode ends.

Hats off to those who are already indulged in some physical activity on a regular basis.

Is Technology to be blamed?

Recently, I read an article that said, more than half of the world will be overweight or obese by 2035. I was shocked and felt a little depressed to find out this information. And I don’t want to be on that list.

In this evolving technological world, obesity is a common problem faced by many individuals worldwide. And you may have heard that elders blame the overuse of technology for such problems.

It’s a whole different topic to debate about. Technology is meant to make our lives easier, but I think it’s our habits that make us lazy.

Technology surely is a great invention for us. But don’t you think our lack of control over our emotions and habits is making us lazy, obese, and finally unhealthy?

The Bottom Line

As I always say and believe, we become what we think and do.

Needless to say, a physically active body keeps us away from various kinds of diseases.

So, instead of blaming anyone, we should make a habit to remain physically active by indulging in some sort of exercise in our daily routine.

Thank you so much for staying till the end.
Wishing you with good health and happiness.
